Personal Blogs, Social Networks, Forums, Microblogs, Social News, etc.

Paid blogging.
Certain companies will pay bloggers to post articles about or reviews of their advertisers’ products on their blog (or on other social media presence). We request that you exercise caution, and if you believe this may conflict with your employee position please contact us for assistance.

Anonymous or pseudonymous. Ready Resources believes in transparency and honesty and we would prefer you do not hide behind anonymous or pseudonymous postings. Write as though everyone knows who you are.
Where you are commenting directly on behalf of Ready Resources, or in your position as an employee only named accounts can be used.  If you choose, your profile may include a direct statement that you work for Ready Resources (“I work for Ready Resources Pty Ltd”).
You may repost your own stories, between your blog and a company blog, however, (except by prior arrangement), explicit reference must be made on your blog to the company blog (“cross-posted at [Ready Resources blog URL]”, “reposted at [Ready Resources blog URL]” or “reposted from [Ready Resources blog URL]”)

Friends & Connections

Use your own best judgment in deciding whether and how deeply to connect to clients, peers, supervisors, and vendors on social networks. Understand that the Company stands fully behind your right not to befriend anyone who requests this in a professional relationship, just as you have that right personally. Where relevant, include a statement that you work for Ready Resources. If you’re working on behalf of a client, say “I work for Ready Resources, contracted by [client brand]”, not “I work for [client brand].”

Mistakes
If you make an error, be up front about your mistake and correct it quickly. If you choose to modify an earlier post, make it clear that you have done so. If someone accuses you of posting something improper (such as their copyrighted material or a defamatory comment about them), deal with it quickly and remove it immediately to lessen the possibility of a legal action. If this mistake involves the Company, contact us as soon as possible for further advice and assistance.

Social Media Tips

A great feature (and a great downfall) of social media is the speed at which you can publish your thoughts. Reflection and editing are good skills to use. If in doubt over a post, or if something does not feel right, let it sit and look at it again before publishing it, or ask someone else to look at it first
A comment on a friend’s blog or wall is still a comment in a public space. Be guided by the content of your comment, not the context.
